The Lake Shore Community Association Newsletter, Jun 1999

Garage Sale

Lake Shore's annual garage sale is scheduled for Friday, 25 Jun 1999, and Saturday, 26 Jun 1999. Signs will be posted at all entrances and notices will be put in the major newspapers.

Fishing Policy

For all the fishermen and women in the community, please remember that Lake Shore has a "catch and release" policy. You must use barbless hooks to prevent injury to the fish. The fish are an important part of the lake's ecosystem and need to be returned to the lake in order to maintain the correct ecological balance.

Parade Viewing

For those homeowners who will not be participating in the parade we ask that you reward all of the children in the parade by tossing candy or other goodies to them as they come by your house! No hard candy please! We had minor injuries last year! In addition, a few water balloons may not be too bad either (hint, hint). Any other ideas? As long as they are safe for the children, feel free to have some fun as a spectator! Thank you! Without spectators like you we wouldn't have much of a parade!

Fourth of July Celebration Parade and Picnic at the Lake

It's time once again to celebrate our nation's birthday! We're planning to have our annual parade and picnic! If you would like to help with this grand event, please contact Anne Marie Jones at 303-337-6339.

We are still having the potluck portion of the picnic, so pull out those old family recipes and cook us up something good to eat! Please bring a side dish or dessert (and don't forget to label your bowls and serving utensils with your name). The association will provide fried chicken and hot dogs, beverages, plates, forks, spoons and cups. Don't forget to bring your lawn chairs and blankets!

The picnic will begin around 12:00 or 12:30 PM (when the parade is over) at the gazebo area at the lake. When we are done eating and visiting, the games and other fun events will begin. From there we will take all of the remaining beer, soda and food down to the pool for a neighborhood pool party starting at 3:00 PM.

This is a great opportunity for all of us to relax and catch up with our neighbors and also welcome new homeowners. The Fourth of July is on a Sunday this year so we're expecting a really great turn-out!

Parade Route

As in years past, the parade will start at the gazebo at the lake. This will allow us to bring our potluck dishes to the lake and drop them off before the parade, making it easier for us after the parade because our food will be waiting for us! From the gazebo we will travel south on S Zeno St to S Truckee Wy. We'll go west and then north on S Truckee Wy to E LaSalle Pl; east on E LaSalle Pl back to S Zeno St; north on S Zeno St to E Harvard Pl; west on E Harvard Pl to S Truckee Wy; north on S Truckee Wy to E Baker Pl; east on E Baker Pl to S Zeno St; north on S Zeno St to E Dickenson Pl; west on E Dickenson Pl to S Truckee Wy; north on S Truckee Wy (the street changes to E Caspian Pl) and all the way around the lake back to the gazebo. We should be back to the gazebo by 12:15 or 12:30 PM just in time for the picnic! Don't forget your water bottles! It is typically very hot on the parade route!

Playground Survey

Please fill out the following and mail (2620 S Parker Rd, Ste 105, Aurora, CO 80014) or fax (303-671-6430) it to CPMG by 6 Jul 1999.

The Lake Shore Board of Directors is requesting community participation regarding additional playground equipment at the lake. The board has previously approved an addition to the existing playground equipment, but has deferred this project due to other financial obligations. We are asking that you complete and return this form to let the board know if the community is interested in spending approximately $6K for additional playground equipment at the lake.

  • Yes, I would like to see community funds spent on additional playground equipment.
  • No, I would not like to see community funds spent on additional playground equipment.
