The Lake Shore Community Association Newsletter, May 2006
Pool Opening
The pool opening is scheduled for Saturday, 27 May at 11:00 AM. Front Range Recreation will again return as our contractor for pool management and lifeguarding. The Social Committee will be hosting our pool opening festivities. If you would like to help, please contact Lisa Kelly at 303-337-1989 or Brenda Hummel at 303-750-0219.
The Pool Committee, in conjunction with the Board of Directors, would like to remind everyone who uses the pool to abide by the pool rules and respect others who are using the pool. We are confident this will be another great season at the pool!
Pool Passes
We are planning to hold pool pass pick-up days on Saturday, 13 May and Sunday, 14 May from 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM in front of the pool house.
The Pool Committee strongly suggests homeowners take advantage of the two pool pass pick-up days. If you are unable to pick up your passes during these times, you will need to contact MSI to make arrangements to get your passes.

Volunteers Needed
The community needs your help! Volunteers are needed for several important positions in the community. First, volunteers are needed for the Social and Pool Committees. All that's required to help is a willingness to pitch in and have fun.
Also, there is a vacancy on the Board of Directors due to a resignation. The only requirement for being on the board is a willingness to serve the best interests of the community as a whole. If you're interested in any of these positions, please contact your community manager.
The Lake
As many of you know, there has been a lot of recent activity around the lake. The lake is the community's most visible amenity and it is important to make sure it is looking the best it can. Therefore, the board has recently filled the lake back up to normal levels and had the lake restocked with fish.
In addition, the board needs your help. Please do not throw rocks from the shoreline further into the lake. This hurts the delicate ecosystem in the lake. The board wants to make sure the lake area remains the spotlight area for the community.
Landscaping
The board has hired a new grounds contractor this year! The board is proud to announce that All Phase will be doing the grounds maintenance for the community's common areas. In addition to regular maintenance, the board has, after obtaining bids, contracted with All Phase to do several phases of xeriscaping in and around the lake area. This work should be starting in the next few weeks. If you have a question or concern about the landscaping in the community, please contact your community manager.
Garage Sale
Well, it's that time of year again. Lake Shore is planning to have the community garage sale on Friday, 12 May and Saturday, 13 May from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM. To advertise the garage sale, signs will be posted and an ad will be placed in the local paper.
Neighborhood Watch
As most of you are aware, we had an incident occur on 29 Apr. It was discovered that approximately 15 vehicles each had a window broken out. The police were out immediately, providing information on how to make a report. Since only a few homeowners made contact, we wanted to remind everyone that it is extremely important to report all incidents, no matter how minor, to your block captain and the Aurora Police Department. Reporting these incidents is the only way to justify extra police presence.
Dumpster Days
There will be three large dumpsters in the parking lot by the basketball court on Saturday, 20 May and Sunday, 21 May. Since this is always an extremely popular event, the Board of Directors asks that you please not overfill the dumpsters or place items next to the dumpsters that will not fit inside. Any items not placed in the dumpsters will be hauled away at an additional expense to the HOA. If you have any questions, please contact your community manager.
ACC Request Reminder
Homeowners who wish to make permanent improvements to the exterior of their homes need to submit an ACC request form to the ACC. This includes colors for exterior house painting, plans for landscaping and fencing, and the installation of decks and dog runs, to name a few. Please submit a request form with a plat map of your home. You will need to indicate on the map, or make a drawing, showing each item of your improvement. Please be specific in the types of trees, bushes, sod, etc. you are planning to use. If you are adding a deck, give the dimensions, material, and placement on your plat map. Try to be as specific as possible about your improvement. If you need a request form, please visit www.msihoa.com and log on to your communitys site or contact Jim Whatton at 720-974-4221 or e-mail jwhatton@msihoa.com.
The intent of this requirement is not to hinder people from freedom of choice but to ensure their choices are in harmony with the overall appearance of the community. An attractive, harmonious community will be a desirable place in which to live and will also prove to be a better investment over time than one in which architectural control is not enforced.
