The Lake Shore Community Association Newsletter, May 2009
Pool Opening
The pool opening is scheduled for Saturday, 23 May at 11:00 AM. Front Range Recreation will be providing two lifeguards this year from 11:00 AM to 8:00 PM daily. If you are interested in joining the Pool Committee, please contact Brenda Hummel, our Pool Committee Chairperson, at 303-750-0219 or Lisa Kelly at 303-337-1989.
Dumpster Days
There will be three large dumpsters in the parking lot by the basketball court from Monday, 1 June to Wednesday, 3 June. As in years past, the Board of Directors asks that you please do not overfill the dumpsters or place any items next to the dumpsters that will not fit inside. Any items not placed in the dumpsters will be hauled away at an additional expense to the HOA of $450.00. Please contact Cindy Travis at MSI if you have any questions.
The Lake Shore Community Garage Sale
Can you believe it? It’s that time of year again. Our garage sale is Friday, 29 May to Sunday, 31 May from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM To advertise the garage sale, signs will be posted at the entrances to the community and an ad will be placed in the local newspaper.
Pool Pass Pick Up
Pool pass pick up is scheduled for Saturday, 16 May and Sunday, 17 May from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM in front of the pool house. Please take advantage of this opportunity to pick up your pool passes early. Otherwise, arrangements will have to be made with either the Pool Committee or MSI for you to pick them up. If you have any questions concerning procedure, please feel free to contact Lisa Kelly at 303-337-1989. Your assessment account must be current in order to receive pool passes.
ACC Request Procedure
- Complete an ACC request form (either from the website or contact MSI for assistance).
- Please note that you must complete the form and receive written approval from the ACC prior to making any changes.
- According to the Bylaws, the ACC is allowed, at the very least, 45 days in which to meet with you concerning approval. Since this is the case, please remember to think ahead of time. There have been too many instances where homeowners are contacting the ACC or board members asking for their request to be expedited because the painters are literally there wanting to start.
Please also remember that approval comes from the association's ACC and not MSI. Please contact MSI to inquire on the status of your request.
Architectural Control
This is just a friendly reminder that all exterior improvements to your home must have prior written approval from the ACC before this work can be done. The form to use can be found at www.msihoa.com or, if you contact your community manager, a form can be sent to you.
Please also remember that painting your home is always a costly project. It can become even more expensive if you have to repaint because you did not receive approval from the ACC before undertaking a painting project.
Yearly Fence Repair
While conducting the yearly perimeter fence inspection, it was noticed that many bottom fence rails were being pushed out of place by dirt, landscaping materials, etc. Please remember that there is a three-foot easement for fence repairs/replacement. Since we are trying to be as cost efficient as possible, many homeowners will be receiving letters concerning this repair. We will be asking that you remove as much of this material as possible on your own. This will help save the labor cost to have the fence repair company get in your backyard to remove this material for you. More information will follow.

Please remember that Neighborhood Watch is here for our safety and well being. This program only works if there is communication. If you are not sure whether or not to call the police, contact your block captain or Lisa Kelly. This way, we can follow up on information and determine if there was a crime and contact homeowners. If you have any questions concerning any aspect of Neighborhood Watch, please feel free to contact Lisa Kelly at any time.
Social Committee
If you would like to volunteer your time to the Social Committee, please contact Heather Vickers at 303-898-0704.
Siding Repairs/Replacement
There is a company speaking to residents in Lake Shore regarding a class action siding issue. Be aware the board is not endorsing this company and any action individual homeowners take regarding this issue is solely each homeowners individual action.
Aurora Watering Restrictions Single Family Residences
The City of Aurora allows watering for any three days of the week, provided it is not between the hours of 10:00 AM and 6:00 PM.
